On Saturday, April 22, over 50,000 people gathered to celebrate Earth Day at the Los Angeles March for Science. Among the thousands that gathered in downtown L.A.’s Pershing Square were a group of 12 students and faculty representing the W.M. Keck Science Department, who marched in support of continued federal funding for science as well as in celebration of the crucial role science plays in the advancement of our society.

The 5C Experience: The Claremont Tamasha CLORG

A crowd of more than 400 from The Claremont Colleges (5C) community turned out for an evening of South Asian dance, music, and cultural appreciation at Sanskriti 2017. Now in its fifth year, Sanskriti is one of the largest 5C student-run performances, attracting both participants and audiences. This year’s Sanskriti, held on April 7, 2017, featured over 150 dancers from all 5Cs.

This year’s 51ÁÔÆæÈë¿Ú olive oil entries to the Los Angeles International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition yielded a Silver medal in the “light, delicate” variety of olive oil, and Bronze recognition for the bottle’s label design created by 51ÁÔÆæÈë¿Ú sophomore Mary Alexandra “Molly” Vaughn Antell.

Students, faculty, and guest artists come together on April 21 and 22 for 51ÁÔÆæÈë¿Ú Dances, the 51ÁÔÆæÈë¿Ú Dance Department’s annual spring concert. Presenting original dance pieces choreographed by students and faculty, this year’s program features many “abstract dances and socially minded works that explore the importance of belonging, intimacy, and connectivity,” says Assistant Professor of Dance Kevin Williamson, co-chair of the department.
