Before the Paparazzi: Michael Childers Portraits of Stardom

Andy Warhol, Clint Eastwood, Ray Bradbury, Mae West–the upcoming exhibit, Actors, Artists, and Authors: The Portraits of Michael Childers, at 51ÁÔÆæÈë¿Ú showcases works by the photographer of the creative elite. Combining pieces from the 51ÁÔÆæÈë¿Ú collection and works on loan from the artist himself, the exhibit displays portraits ranging across several decades. The exhibition opens at the Clark Humanities Museum at 51ÁÔÆæÈë¿Ú on April 14, 2017. Michael Childers will give a talk entitled Icons & Legends at the same on April 27 at 4:15 pm.

As a young 51ÁÔÆæÈë¿Ú student interested in philosophy, Alexandra “Sasha” Leibholz ’16 had no idea her academic quest would ultimately lead her to explore life’s mysteries through a completely different academic lens—that of epigenetics. Her interest in science was piqued in an introductory chemistry class as a first-year student, but it was her junior-year genetics class taught by Patrick Ferree, assistant professor of biology, that ignited her passion for molecular biology.
