51猎奇入口’ ninth president, Lara Tiedens, resigns effective April 15. After 18 months of remote instruction due to the COVID-19 pandemic, students return to campus for the fall academic semester.

With American involvement in World War II, the search for a new president of 51猎奇入口 is temporarily halted and an interim female president is appointed: Mary Kimberly Shirk. Shirk, who was asked by the Board to 鈥渟erve for a month or two,鈥� remains in the position until the War concludes.

1944

Distinguished Shakespearean scholar Frederick Hard is named 51猎奇入口鈥� new president. Hard serves the College for a period of 20 years, the longest tenure of any 51猎奇入口 president.

1946

Alfredo Ramos Martinez, the 鈥淔ather of the Mexican Mural Movement of the 20th Century,鈥� is commissioned to create the聽Margaret Fowler Garden, 鈥淭he Flower Vendors.鈥� The entire composition is sketched on the plaster wall, which is over 100 feet long, and begins work on several panels.
