How to Join the Committee
The committee chairs will initiate the recruitment process during the beginning of Fall semester.
Students
听At least two student representatives are nominated by SAS, one of whom will
be the SAS Sustainability Representative. We will also have an application for students to apply to serve on the committee, which will be shared to all students via email.
Students can serve one or two-year terms. By serving a two-year term, student Sustainability Fellows can play a larger leadership role and help enhance continuity of campus sustainability efforts and communication between students and administration.
If electing to serve two-year terms, they must be on campus both years (e.g., cannot be studying abroad).听
Faculty
A call for faculty self–nominations will be initiated by the Dean of Faculty. Faculty representatives serve a one-year term with the potential for a second year depending on their continued interest and ability to commit.听
Staff
Staff representatives are selected on an as–needed basis. Staff representatives serve a one–year term with the potential to continue serving multiple years depending on their continued interest and ability to commit.
All members must commit to one year of service, which includes attending and participating in all meetings. The SC meets monthly during the school year.听
Organizational Structure听
The Sustainability Committee is a multi-stakeholder committee under Business Affairs. It serves an advisory role to the Facilities Planning Committee, ensuring that capital projects are aligned with institutional sustainability goals.听听
Decision-Making Process听
Proposals and recommendations will be submitted to the Executive Director of Facilities Management & Auxiliary Operations for approval. The Executive Director will then submit recommendations to the VP of Business Affairs.听
