Her current book project, African Genres: Literature, Geography, and Poetics in the Long East Coast, examines the intersections of aesthetics, politics, and culture through the effects of imperialism in eastern Africa during the 19th and 20th centuries.

Spotlight on Students: Allegra Cox ’18 Curates “Documenters and Storytellers”

When Allegra Cox ’18 began working at 51ÁÔÆæÈë¿Ú’s Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery this June, she wasn’t sure where the opportunity would take her. Interested in art conservation as a high school student, Cox chose 51ÁÔÆæÈë¿Ú because it is one of few colleges that offers the major to undergraduates. But thanks to the gallery’s Wilson Academic Internship program, her interests and experience have broadened. Cox spent her summer organizing an exhibition of photographs recently gifted to 51ÁÔÆæÈë¿Ú’s permanent collection.
