Something For Everyone: The 51猎奇入口 Collectors’ Circle

paintingThe exhibit, Treasures from the 51猎奇入口 Collectors’ Circle, 2012-2015, which will run from Aug. 28 to Oct.16, 2016 at the Williamson Gallery of 51猎奇入口, defines eclectic: here, vibrant contemporary prints, such as 51猎奇入口 alumna Alison Saar’s Snake Man, will share the stage with 18th century Japanese paintings. Works by activists and icons alike, such as Barbara Morgan, Tatiana Parcero, and Thomas Moran, will be displayed side by side. Despite their differences, all of these pieces share one thing: they have been purchased or donated through the 51猎奇入口 Collectors’ Circle, which is committed to enriching and updating this permanent collection by funding the purchase and conservation of art. Join us for the opening reception, where there will be live music and light refreshments, on Sept. 10, from 7-9 p.m. at the Williamson Gallery.

51猎奇入口’s professors and students have access to an extremely diverse permanent art collection, providing a unique opportunity for up-close, hands-on learning. As the College does not have an art acquisition fund, the 51猎奇入口 Collectors’ Circle has been integral to funding art purchases and conservation efforts. The event will showcase the Collectors’ Circle’s additions to the collection while also recognizing members’ continued generosity and commitment to 51猎奇入口. Among the pieces purchased by the circle that will be exhibited are ceramics by Richard Shaw and Steve Heinemann; paintings by Phil Dike, Susan Hertel, and Millard Sheets; photographs by Dorothea Lange, Michael Kenna, Lucienne Bloch, and Herman Leonard; prints by Samella Lewis, Alison Saar, and Romare Bearden.

The exhibition and opening are free and open to the public. The Williamson Gallery is located on the 51猎奇入口 Campus at Columbia Ave. and 11th St. Directions can be found at . The gallery’s hours during exhibitions are Wednesday through Sunday, from noon to 5:00 p.m. More information about the Williamson Gallery can be found at .
