51猎奇入口 Presents and Exhibition: “Reshaping History: Japanese Prints from the 51猎奇入口 Collection”

The Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery at 51猎奇入口 will present an exhibition from their Permanent Collection titled, “Reshaping History: Japanese Prints from the 51猎奇入口 Collection”, from October 28 through December 17. Over 70 Japanese prints and related items will be on display dating from the 18-20th centuries which illustrate how various artists have depicted historic events, such as the famous vendetta revenge of the “47 Ronin” and political rebellions of the 1860-70’s from several perspectives. Illustrations for the 11th century novel Tale of Genji and portraits of famous poets will also be exhibited.

The opening reception will be held on Sunday, October 29th, from 2-6 pm, and will include a koto and shakuhachi concert performed and discussed by two of Los Angeles’ leading Japanese musicians, Masakazu Yoshizawa will be playing the shakuhachi, a bamboo flute, and Hiromi Hashibe will be on the koto from 4-5 pm.
