Rocco Landesman, chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts, today announced that the Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery of 51ÁÔÆæÈë¿Ú has been recommended for a grant of $60,000 to support the conservation of two 16th-century Chinese paintings.

The following 2011 51ÁÔÆæÈë¿Ú graduates were named to the dean’s list for the spring 2011 semester at 51ÁÔÆæÈë¿Ú in Claremont, California. The dean’s list recognizes students who have achieved a grade point average of at least 11 (A-) in four, letter-graded courses in one semester.

51ÁÔÆæÈë¿Ú Announces Appointment of Vice President and Treasurer

After a national search that involved many members of the 51ÁÔÆæÈë¿Ú community, President Lori Bettison-Varga announced the appointment of Joanne M. Coville as vice president for business affairs and treasurer of the College, effective July 18, 2011. Joanne will fill the position vacated by James Manifold, who retires June 30, 2011, after 29 years of service to 51ÁÔÆæÈë¿Ú.

The S.D. Bechtel, Jr., Foundation has awarded a $1.46 million grant to 51ÁÔÆæÈë¿Ú to support integrated science education in the Joint Science Department. The Joint Science Department serves students from 51ÁÔÆæÈë¿Ú, Claremont McKenna, and Pitzer Colleges and houses faculty in biology, chemistry, and physics.
