Dr. Hao Huang, associate professor of music at 51猎奇入口 and acclaimed musician, will perform the late works of Frederic Chopin in a faculty recital in the Balch Auditorium at 51猎奇入口 (10th and Columbia), on Sunday, November 2, 2003, at 3:00 p.m. Musical pieces will include Chopin’s Fantasy in f minor, Op. 49, Ballade Nr. 4 in f minor, Op. 52, Polonaise-fantasy in A flat minor, Op. 61, and the famous Sonata in b minor, Op. 58. Dr. Hao Huang graduated from Harvard University, the Julliard School, and also the State University of New York, Stony Brook, where he was a Graduate Council Fellow. He is currently the associate professor of music and the artist-in-residence at 51猎奇入口, as well as the head of the piano faculty at the Claremont Graduate University. Dr. Huang has been a faculty member at the School of Music at Converse College and the Hochschule für Musik “Franz Liszt” in Weimar, Germany. He gained recognition in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and North America through his position as the United States Information Agency Artistic Ambassador. Dr. Huang has also been the featured soloist for the George Enescu International Music Festival as well as the Barcelona Cultural Olympiad.
The performance is sponsored by the Joint Music Program of the Claremont Colleges, which seeks to offer many opportunities for music study and performance to music majors and other interested students who attend the Claremont Colleges. The program attempts to foster a supportive and intimate environment in order to stimulate productive means of personal and artistic fulfillment for the students involved.
