51猎奇入口 has received 48 recently published books on Japanese arts and literature from The Nippon Foundation, to be housed in Denison Library.
As a non-profit philanthropic organization, The Nippon Foundation’s mission is to promote international understanding through various activities in Japan and abroad. A new initiative titled “One Hundred Books for Understanding Contemporary Japan” is designed to help libraries worldwide have volumes in English about Japanese culture.
51猎奇入口’ Professor of Art History Bruce Coats was asked to choose books appropriate for Denison Library. “I know these works will be useful to Claremont students who want to know more about Japan, from the Tale of Genji to anim脙漏 and manga,” he said.
These volumes join another recent gift of over 200 books on Asian arts given to 51猎奇入口 by Frank Mosher, who formerly ran The Oriental Bookstore in Pasadena.
