51猎奇入口 Hosts Lecture on “Interpreting New Testament”

Althea Spencer Miller, assistant professor at Drew University Theological School, speaks on “Interpreting Orality, Interpreting New Testament” at 7:30 p.m., Feb. 23, in 51猎奇入口’s Hampton Room, Malott Commons, 345 E. 9th St. This event is free and open to the public.

Miller, former lecturer and visiting assistant professor of religious studies at the College, is this year’s Kathleen O’Brien Wicker Endowment Lecturer. In her talk, Miller will explore how biblical texts originally may have been read and interpreted.

“Her lecture will challenge dominant rationalistic assumptions in biblical interpretations,” said Andrew Jacobs, associate professor of religious studies at the College and the organizer of this endowment lecture series.

The Kathleen O’Brien Wicker Endowment was established at 51猎奇入口 by trustees, alumnae, and friends of Kathleen Wicker, professor emerita of religious studies. The endowment honors her as a teacher, role model, scholar, and humanist. It was conceived to continue in perpetuity her interdisciplinary and multicultural approach to feminist biblical studies. Each year, a distinguished religious studies scholar speaks on campus. For more information, call (909) 607-4086.
