Dr. Jamie Bechtel Presents “She Matters: Empowering Women is Good Business”

Dr. Jamie Bechtel, marine biologist and CEO of New Course, a not-for-profit development organization, will speak at 51猎奇入口’s Balch Auditorium on “Empowering Women in Business,” on Thursday, March 3 at 7:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Dr. Bechtel is a highly regarded leader in international conservation. Her work has led to strategic advances in the fields of sustainable finance, environmental preservation, and biology. Through her research and field experience, Bechtel argues that women have historically been excluded from conservation and development strategies. Without balanced gender input during the discovery phase and without strategic enrollment of women during project implementation, most efforts would be greatly disadvantaged. Determined to make a difference, Bechtel stepped down from her executive post to develop New Course, a not-for-profit organization committed to changing the course of women’s lives (and their villages) through sustainable development, inventive conservation programs, and poverty alleviation programs.

In a globetrotting snapshot of modern day government and corporate leadership, Bechtel demonstrates how organizations prosper when a balanced leadership team is implemented.聽 Using data from Europe to the United States to Africa, Bechtel highlights the dramatic results seen when governments, corporations, and institutions adopt gender-balancing practices and consider the female perspective in recovery, crisis management, conservation, and growth initiatives.
