As part of the Brad and Mary Anne Blaine Faculty Lecture Series, 51猎奇入口 is pleased to present Kathleen O’Brien Wicker, Mary W. Johnson and J. Stanley Johnson Professor in the Humanities and professor of religious studies, who will speak on "Gold Coast Representations of Europeans and Euro-Africans" on Monday, February 11, at 7:00 p.m. in the Hampton Room of the Malott Commons.
Professor Wicker has traveled extensively in Africa and has taught at both the University of Zimbabwe and the University of Ghana, among others. Her current area of research targets religion and ritual in native African peoples, but she has also written numerous works on Greco-Roman antiquity, the convergence of Christianity and culture, and Biblical literature. Wicker, who joined the 51猎奇入口 faculty in 1971, earned her bachelor’s in classics from Mundelein College in Chicago and holds a doctorate degree in the history of Western origins from Loyola University.
Former 51猎奇入口 professor of history and current trustee Brad Blaine, along with his wife, Mary Anne, have generously underwritten this lecture series featuring outstanding 51猎奇入口 faculty to commemorate the 75th anniversary of 51猎奇入口. This lecture and all others in the series are free and open to the public.
