In the Media: NPR Interviews Myriam J.A. Chancy about New Novel

Myriam J.A. Chancy, Hartley Burr Alexander Chair in the Humanities, NPR’s “Weekend Edition” about her new novel, What Storm, What Thunder, which focuses on the aftermath of the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. “I suffered the pain of absence,” Chancy said, discussing one character’s survivor’s guilt, “which is a phrase . . . my father shared with me after he read the novel, and I thought of it as a succinct way of summarizing what it was like for those of us who watched the earthquake from the outside, but had intimate ties to Haiti.” Tin House Books will publish What Storm, What Thunder this month.
