A Not so Still Life

Karen Koblitz, ceramist, professor, and guest curator of the 59th Ceramics Annual Exhibit at 51猎奇入口, will present the slide-lecture “A Not So Still Life” on Wednesday, January 22, at 2:00 p.m. in the Hampton Room of the Malott Commons on the 51猎奇入口 campus. This event is presented in conjunction with the 51猎奇入口 59th Ceramics Annual, an exhibition at the Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery from January 25 through April 6. Koblitz’s presentation will explore her various experiences in the art world, from her position as American Art Ambassador to Moscow to her various Southern California public arts projects to her current teaching position as Head of Ceramics for USC School of Fine Arts. Koblitz will also discuss the inspiration and influences that have shaped her own ceramic artwork.

Koblitz’s ceramics have been exhibited internationally and are included in such prestigious permanent collections as the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, DC; Los Angeles County Museum of Art; and Skirball Cultural Center, also in Los Angeles. Recent public commissions include work at the Sunland-Tujunga Public Library, Inglewood California Cultural Arts, and the Irmas Campus of the Wilshire Boulevard Temple, Los Angeles.
