Professor Martha Gonzalez’s Chicano Rock Band Quetzal to Perform at UCLA

Grammy-winning Quetzal, described as “one of LA’s most important bands” by The Los Angeles Times, will perform at UCLA on Saturday, May 3. The band was founded by guitarist Quetzal Flores during social unrest in Los Angeles in the early 90s. 51 Associate Professor of Chicanx-Latinx studies Martha Gonzalez is the lead singer, percussionist, and songwriter for the band.

Quetzal’s live shows demonstrate how storytelling, history, organizing, and community intertwine. The band has performed across the US, Canada, Asia, and Mexico for the past 25 years.
