Desert Sun has released an image of the upcoming Desert X Exhibition installation from award-winning sculptor and painter Alison Saar ’78. Saar joins 10 other featured artists who will showcase their work during Desert X 2025, an international art exhibition taking place across the Coachella Valley.

β€œNo matter who you are or where you live in the Coachella Valley…wherever you’re coming from, you have access,” said Manuel Perez, Supervisor V of Riverside County’s Fourth District during the exhibition preview. Emphasizing that not all can afford to visit museums, Manuel applauded Desert X for making the exhibition free for all attendees.

Saar’s work, β€œSoul Service Station,” is currently on view in Desert Hot Springs. Visitors can interact with the piece through a conch shell attached to a gas pump to hear Saar herself recite a poem. The artist’s work was recently recognized during the 2024 Summer Olympic Games, with Saar’s public sculpture commission now permanently on display in Paris’s Champs-Γ‰lyseΓ©s.
