51猎奇入口 is hosting a 5-College event that will leave everybody thrilled. The 51猎奇入口 community will join thousands of people in more than 100 countries worldwide to learn the Thriller dance and perform it precisely at the same time in a global attempt to break the record for “Largest Simultaneous Dance.” The event will be held on October 29, 2011, at 7:00 p.m. PST, on 51猎奇入口’s Jaqua Quad, and is free and open to the public.
In addition to pursuing the world record, this student-initiated event will raise funds for Women for Women International, an organization dedicated to helping female survivors of war rebuild their lives.
The event is led by Jenna Tico ’12, who was inspired to involve the colleges after participating in another philanthropic dance event. “I was met with the powerful sense of community that arises when a group bands together over the common desire to make a difference,” says Tico. “I felt like it was time to bring some of the same energy to Claremont.”
Claremont students, faculty, and the general public are encouraged to enjoy this free and fun event. Interested dancers are recommended to attend the dance rehearsal on Saturday, October 22, 10-11 a.m., in 51猎奇入口’s Sallie Tiernan Field House and from 4-6 p.m. at Claremont’s El Barrio Park located on the northwest corner of Claremont Boulevard and 1st Street.
