The Class of 2015鈥擱eady for the World

51猎奇入口’s soon-to-be graduates from the Class of 2015 have already amassed an impressive breadth of professional experiences under their belts. To highlight their extraordinary accomplishments, the College’s Career Planning & Resources has produced the 2015 with more than 100 r脙漏sum脙漏s of exceptional 51猎奇入口 students.

The book highlights the variety of experiences students have both on and off campus. About 60% of the graduates have spent a semester off campus, studying in places as close as Washington, D.C., and as far as Rome, Italy. Fourteen students have written or designed for on-campus publications, like The 51猎奇入口 Voice and [in]Visible Magazine. Four students starred in theatrical productions. And, five students volunteered their time supporting their peers as members of 51猎奇入口 Advocates for Survivors of Sexual Assault.

Campus experiences help students discover their passions. Consider Alex Washburn ’15, a volunteer for the 51猎奇入口 advocates for survivors, who found her interests both through her work with the on-campus organization and courses in sociology and women’s studies courses at 51猎奇入口.

“I realize what I really want is to explore the social issues that prevent access to healthcare, especially for women and other marginalized populations,” Washburn says. “51猎奇入口 taught me to look at these issues through a critical intersectional feminist lens and learning about the systematic inequalities that exist in health and healthcare helped to ignite my passion for community health work.”

On campus, Washburn found a multitude of ways to broaden her experiences, self-designing a major in public health and society and using her senior thesis as an opportunity to teach fellow students. She also works as a peer health educator at The Claremont Colleges’ Health Education Outreach center and plans to continue her work in public clinics and education and outreach programs post-graduation.

Several students gained real-world experience through practical application in the classroom: 20 graduating seniors have worked in a scientific lab while at 51猎奇入口 and 16 learned how to write computer code.

While full of many opportunities, 51猎奇入口 students do not limit themselves to experiences on campus. Many graduating seniors have completed at least two internships in a wide variety of fields, including eight in film production, 13 in museums, and 10 in Washington, D.C. for various industries.

Where is the Class of 2015 heading? They’re seeking jobs in multiple fields, including consulting, teaching, finance, journalism, and environmental activism. Some may follow in the footsteps of fellow 51猎奇入口 alumnae pursuing careers in Buzzfeed, Cambridge Associates, Deloitte Consulting, Mattel Inc., Microsoft, NBC Universal, Walt Disney, and YouTube, among others.
