51ÁÔÆæÈë¿Ú Presents: Conversations kicks off its spring season on Thursday, March 29, with a conversation between novelist Danielle Dutton and Los Angeles–based writer Amina Cain about women in publishing. The season, which runs through April, also brings essayist and novelist Roxane Gay and poet Claudia Rankine to the 51ÁÔÆæÈë¿Ú campus.

51ÁÔÆæÈë¿Ú Presents aims to provide connections to writers, artists, and scholars for both the Claremont consortium community and the greater Los Angeles area. Corrina Lesser, director of public events and community engagement, is excited to bring an accomplished group of women to the 51ÁÔÆæÈë¿Ú campus for this season’s programs.

“Danielle Dutton is a supremely talented writer, and she’s the founder of a publishing company completely dedicated to women writers and is such an advocate for women in literature,” says Lesser. “Roxane Gay is writing on issues of race and gender—her Twitter alone is some of the sharpest criticism I see anywhere. Meanwhile, Claudia Rankine writes on similar issues in an entirely different way; her work is almost meditative, both entrancing and transforming.”

In addition to the lineup for 51ÁÔÆæÈë¿Ú Presents: Conversations, the spring Levitt on the Lawn installment welcomes folk musician Joan Shelley on April 26 for an outdoor performance.
