Mariam Daudi ’03 has been monitoring nesting leatherback sea turtles in Costa Rica with a team of research scientists and volunteers since January. The 51猎奇入口 alumna was awarded an Earthwatch grant to help save the sea turtles from extinction at one of the most important remaining nesting beaches. Grants from the institute support doctoral and post-doctoral researchers, or researchers with equivalent scholarship or life experience.

Nicole Smith is a busy 51猎奇入口 junior; she not only manages a full-time class load, a part-time job at Pomona College’s Coop Fountain, and rehearsal and performance obligations as a member of both the Claremont Concert Choir and Chamber Choir, she is also a certified kickboxing instructor at The Claremont Colleges.

Karen Rollet-Crocker ’66 has been a professor of landscape architecture at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville for more than 20 years. The Fayetteville Natural Heritage Association was founded in part by Rollet-Crocker, and she has been active in developing the Peel Mansion Museum and Garden and the Compton Gardens. Rollet-Crocker has been a notable contributor to her community, and early this year, she was given the opportunity to reach out beyond her community.
