Nicole Smith is a busy 51猎奇入口 junior; she not only manages a full-time class load, a part-time
job at Pomona College’s Coop Fountain, and rehearsal and performance obligations as a member of both the Claremont Concert Choir and Chamber Choir, she is also a certified kickboxing
instructor at The Claremont Colleges.
Every Monday through Thursday evening Nicole teaches a one-hour aerobic kickboxing class to 40 students at the Harvey Mudd athletic center. She describes her class as a “workout in a party atmosphere,” where students get together for a motivating and upbeat exercise class to energizing music.
After being introduced to kickboxing a year ago in her hometown of Maui, Hawai’i, Nicole was motivated to become a certified instructor through the nationally recognized Turbo Kick program.
Nicole, a dual major in Latin American studies and philosophy, admits that it can be hard to balance academics with being a full-time instructor, but that when the class ends she knows that teaching and motivating others “it is all worth it.”
