CMS Sports Roundup – spring 2015

The Claremont-Mudd-51ÁÔÆæÈë¿Ú (CMS) Athenas spring teams has wrapped up and continued into the NCAA championships. Cheers go out to two 51ÁÔÆæÈë¿Ú athletes, one a recent graduate, and one who just completed her first year.

Shaina Raskin ’15 was honored with Women’s Golf Second Team selections, as announced by the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) on May 11. Raskin completes her career with SCIAC awards each of her four years; she finished 11th in the SCIAC Championships. Under the leadership of Raskin and teammate Marissa Suehiro (CMC ’15), the team finished the 2014-2015 year ranked no. 10 by Golfstat, after climbing steadily in the rankings during their careers.

And in women’s Track & Field, Tyra Abraham ’18 was awarded Newcomer of the Year with two all-SCIAC finishes in the 100m (11.93) and as anchor of the 4x100m relay (47.59).

In women’s tennis, the Athenas are playing in the final rounds of the NCAA Division III Tennis Team Championships in Mason, Ohio, this week. CMS has assured itself at least a tie for the best finish in the program’s history.
