The Senior Art Exhibition is a cornerstone of the studio art major at 51猎奇入口. Each year, the Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery shows artworks by graduating seniors that constitute their thesis projects. In addition to making the works on view, the seniors conceptualize the exhibition, install their pieces, draft artist statements and wall texts, and publicize the event.
This year’s iteration, “Anyway,” features artworks by Molly Antell ’19, Rowen Cox-Rubien ’19, Catherine Glah ’19, Tirza Jo Ochach-Konradi ’19, Morgan Stewart ’19, and Cindy Zhu ’19. The exhibition draws on a variety of media and inspiration to tell authentic stories. “Sharing ourselves is at times uncomfortable, but we see value in our openness and present these works to you anyway,” according to the students. The title also refers to the students’ divergence from established art-making techniques: “Although these methods are untested, we choose to take chances and move forward with them anyway.”
Open to the public, “Anyway” will run from April 3 to May 18, and admission is free.
