A Letter from SAS President Sneha Deo ’17
To the 51猎奇入口 Community:
I write today to express deep gratitude at the outpouring of support for students, faculty, and staff over the past month. Post-election 2016, the threat of new federal policies that may have devastating impact on members of our community has turned strikingly real. It has been overwhelming to know how many alumnae, parents, and friends are engaging with the process of ensuring 51猎奇入口 is made safe for all current and future students, especially those most vulnerable at this time, and is honoring its mission to the highest degree.
Many have asked how they can further support those affected. Students have identified access to funds for immigration and civil rights-related emergencies as an area of great potential impact. To address this unmet need, SAS has collaborated with Institutional Advancement to establish an emergency gift fund to offset fees for legal advice and representation for our students confronting immigration-related or civil rights issues, with hopes that such a fund represents a continued investment in the education of students at risk right now.
A gift to this fund would make an unbelievable difference to the student body. For those interested in supporting students in this way, I thank you for demonstrating the compassion, generosity, and unity that make our community so strong.
Sincerely,
Sneha Deo ’17
