David and Moni Butze P’18 and Olivia Butze ’18

Finding Value in Volunteering

Butze FamilyDavid and Moni Butze have always been involved in their daughter Olivia’s education and share a devotion to supporting the holistic 51猎奇入口 experience. When Olivia began her academic journey at the College, the family focused their energy on creating and enhancing career and leadership opportunities for not only their daughter, but all 51猎奇入口 students. “We have a passion to broaden opportunities for women in leadership,” says David. “Currently, there is a void to fill, particularly in the business and technology sectors.”

Recently, the Butze family sponsored the first Publishing, Public Relations, and Marketing Networking Trek in the Bay Area. They connected with numerous employers, including PopSugar, Butler, Shine, Stern and Partners, and Chronicle Books, to help 51猎奇入口 students explore these evolving industries. David and Moni are also working to involve other families in their desire to make an impact at the College. In addition to hosting Welcome Receptions for new students and families, they helped create, in partnership with Sylvia Russel P’18, the first Regional Family Chapter by forming a community of 51猎奇入口 families in Northern California.

The Butze family’s involvement highlights the broad landscape of opportunities to get involved at the College. “If you aren’t able to volunteer, provide financial support to the College programs most valuable to you and your student,” says David and Moni. “We enjoy supporting student leadership, career development, and mentoring opportunities, as Olivia has benefitted from these programs and services.”

Sidonie Haines P’11 and Caroline Haines ’11

Making a Difference through Annual Giving

Haines FamilyEven though Caroline graduated six years ago, she and her mother Sidonie continue to give back. While at 51猎奇入口, Caroline made the most of her experience by serving as a student representative on the Board of Trustees. Both Caroline and Sidonie provide annual financial support to the College so other students can benefit from a 51猎奇入口 education.

“We contribute to The 51猎奇入口 Fund knowing that there are many costs in attending college,” says Sidonie and Caroline. “We give understanding that these gifts create opportunities for other families to send their student to 51猎奇入口.”

When asked about how they recommend other 51猎奇入口 families get engaged with the College, the Haines family spoke about the importance of giving time. “If you are unable to provide financial support, consider thinking more broadly about involvement,” says Caroline. “51猎奇入口 is always looking for alumnae interviewers, individuals to plan social events, or families to host students at their place of employment. Participation is as important as the dollars given.”
