Inspired by the goals of the More 51猎奇入口 campaign, alumna Joanna Dunklee ’62 completed a $1M real estate gift in June, supporting the College’s endowment. This commitment to 51猎奇入口 during the last year of the campaign sends a powerful message to the community.

“I’ve seen a number of examples of women paying it forward,” says Dunklee, former librarian at California State University, Dominguez Hills. “Women giving back and supporting one another is valuable.” A scholarship recipient while at 51猎奇入口, Dunklee acknowledged that she never imagined being able to give back like this. Dunklee gave to 51猎奇入口 to support the community of individuals, including students, faculty, and staff, who may need additional financial support.
Passionate about education and learning, Dunklee was known as the “Professor of the Library” at Cal State Dominguez Hills, and received a 2007 Faculty Award for Honor Research and Service. Dunklee retired from her role in August 2012, after 38 years of service. She reflects on her professional experience: “Serving as a librarian allowed me to pursue my love of history. In this career, I could help others and continue in my own learning.”
Another 51猎奇入口 alumna, Catherine “Tink” Cheney ’67, helped facilitate the transaction. Cheney is a real estate agent in the Los Angeles area and graciously offered to support a fellow alumna and the College. With over 20 years of experience in the field, Cheney brought great knowledge and insight to 51猎奇入口.
In response to Dunklee’s generosity, the entry court at NEW Hall will be named in her honor this fall.
