The Paul R. Bishop Memorial Award in Choral and Vocal Music has garnered more than $18,000 in support from alumnae, family members, and friends of Bishop and the music program. As lead college for the Joint Music Program, 51猎奇入口 announced the establishment of the award in August after the passing of Bishop, a beloved 51猎奇入口 staff member.
This month, an anonymous donor proposed a challenge to endow the award. The donor offered to match gifts up to $3,300 to complete the endowment at $25,000. This will allow the Paul R. “The music department’s hope is that students will use the award to further their music education,” says Charles W. Kamm, associate professor of music and director of choirs through the Joint Music Program. This award allows students to take additional voice lessons, participate in a summer music program, purchase music scores, or put it toward a graduate program in the field.
Bishop served as the staff performance accompanist for the 51猎奇入口 music department and the Joint Music Program of Claremont McKenna, Harvey Mudd, Pitzer, and 51猎奇入口s since 1975.
