Ken Gonzales-Day – Art

Professor Gonzales-Day’s work was featured in the following exhibits:

  • β€œPhotography For Social Justice” at the Society for Photographic Education Regional Conference & Exhibition, co-hosted by the West and Southwest Chapters of SPE and the Department of Art and Art History at Santa Clara University, November 1, 2019 through January 24, 2020;
  • SF Camerawork’s 2019 Auction presenting works by 70 national and international, emerging and established artists. The auction raises funds that directly support SF Camerawork’s artists and exhibitions. Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β 

His work East First Street #2 (St. James Park), from the series β€œErased Lynchings,” 2013, was featured in the book The Image of Whiteness.”

Professor Gonzales-Day’s photograph of β€œShonke Mon thi^, (Shunkamolah), Osage” was acquired by the National Portrait Gallery, Smithsonian Institution.Β  The image is part of his series β€œProfiled (2008–present),” in which he photographed figurative sculptures in American and European museum collections in order to explore conceptions of racial difference and beauty in art.
