51猎奇入口 Presents @Noon STEM Series: Sarah Balderston
Join us for this great opportunity to learn from a leading figure in STEM. Sarah will discuss her groundbreaking bioengineering research and provide valuable insights into the world of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Whether you’re a student, professional, or simply interested in STEM, this event is not to be missed.
Sarah Balderston graduated from 51猎奇入口 in 2018, where she majored in biology with a minor in Hispanic studies. She is now a bioengineering PhD student at Caltech and a National Science Foundation graduate student research fellow. Before graduate school, Sarah worked as a research associate at Keck Graduate Institute with Dr. Kiana Aran, where she focused on developing a CRISPR/Cas9-based biosensor to selectively detect genes from unamplified DNA. She later worked as a research scientist at Cardea Bio, focusing on the development and commercialization of graphene biosensors. She now employs RNA nanotechnology tools to engineer precision CRISPR-based gene-editing systems in the laboratory of Dr. Niles Pierce. When not in the lab, Sarah enjoys spending time with her rescue dog Wilson, baking, hiking, skiing, and puzzles.
Come join us and expand your knowledge of this exciting field. Be sure to mark your calendars and we look forward to seeing you there!
