Community-Building Workshop:听In this听2-hour workshop participants will be introduce to the RJ Foundational theories and core values that anchor听Restorative Culture Implementation model for schools. Participants will experience a Community-Building activity and engage in a media presentation to better understand the essential place of relationships in driving restorative practices and communities.

Dr. Jenny Escobar is a Restorative Justice Strategist and Coach at the California Conference for Equality and Justice, where she leads the implementation of Restorative Justice values and practices at the school and district level.听In this position, Dr. Escobar facilitates trainings and one-to-one coaching to school partners. She also develops assessment tools to advance CCEJ’s whole school, culturally responsive Restorative Justice Implementation model.听Prior to her role at CCEJ, Dr. Escobar served as the director of a Family Resource Center in the Mission District of San Francisco, where she connected Latinx and African American families with material and social resources to support their resiliency as they faced gentrification, deportations, and other exclusionary practices harming their community.听For over 10 years, Dr. Escobar, as an activist-scholar, also took an active role in the transnational movement for survivors of state violence.听She became involved with the healing justice strategies of survivors throughout Latin America and South Africa.听Dr. Escobar focused her scholarly work on Colombia, working alongside survivors on the ground while connecting their realities to academic inquires as noted in her publications,听Memoria Viva: State Violence and the Movement for Memory in Colombia听(2013), and听From rescue to solidarity: (Re)humanizing relationships for social transformation (2017).听She has been invited to speak about her knowledge on healing, transnational movements, and (post) conflict resiliency in panels and as an expert witness.
