My Favorite Local Eats

The Claremont Village, just a 15-20 minute walk from campus, offers many great restaurant options if you’re not feeling like eating at one of the dining halls!

Kazama Sushi

Kazama is my favorite local Japanese restaurant! They sell sushi and rolls for an affordable price, but also offer ramen, udon, yakisoba, teriyaki, katsu, and poke bowls.

21 Choices Frozen Yogurt

21 Choices allows customers to pick any of their 21 frozen yogurt combinations, but they also have the ability to customize as well. My go-to is French Vanilla with mangos, strawberries, and Fruity Pebbles mixed in!

Some Crust Bakery

A local favorite, Some Crust offers a variety of baked goods (my grandma loves their cookies) as well as breakfast and brunch options. They also make custom cakes for special occasions! One of the walls in the store is lined with vintage pennants of the 7 Claremont Colleges.

Saca’s Mediterranean Cuisine

Saca’s is a family-owned Mediterranean restaurant that has been serving the Claremont area for over 30 years with affordable and delicious dishes. Pictured below are five cubes of Turkish Delights, the Lamb Shawerma Sandwich, and the Falafel Salad!

I Like Pie

I Like Pie, a Claremont-based pie shop featured in Forbes, Thrillist, and Fodor’s, offers a variety of delicious pies, with gluten-free and vegan options available as well. My favorites are their mini pies!

Bardot

Bardot is an upscale California restaurant that offers brunch, lunch, and dinner. Their brunch is spectacular, and the Berries and Cr猫me Br没l茅e Waffle is a big highlight. I would highly recommend this spot for a nice birthday celebration- they’ll give you a sweet treat for your special day 馃檪

Honeybird

Honeybird may be a chain, but the quality of their Southern-inspired food does not waver. They specialize in fried chicken, and their signature sandwich, The Honeybird, does not disappoint. It contains a crispy boneless chicken thigh, Pimento cheese, slaw, tomato, and pickled chilies on a Brioche bun.

Pepo Melo

Pepo Melo is a fruit bowl/smoothie shop situated on the corner of Harvard Avenue, where customers can choose from Pepo’s bowls or build their own. I’ve always appreciated the variety of options at Pepo Melo: their bases include Organic Acai Sorbet, Banana Cacao Mash Sorbet, Coconut Sorbet, Mango Sorbet, Pitaya Sorbet, Matcha Sorbet, Blue Majik Sorbet, etc., and offer delicious toppings from fresh fruit to dried berries, dates, figs, nuts, and seeds. They also have a variety of powders, granola, and drizzles to choose from.
